D-Xirable Memories: Concerts! Part 2 (One Republic, B.O.B, Travie McCoy, and Sean Kingston)

The concerts lists continue... :)

One Republic and B.O.B (UMKC) - An amazing concert! I LOVED it!

One Republic killed it! I mean look at all the awesome song that One Republic has! LOVED the performances of "Apologize", "All the Right Moves", "Good Life", etc. "Apologize" was the best though! Ryan Tedder was awesome on the piano! :) They are all so talented especially Ryan Tedder! Ryan Tedder is incredible! He sings, he plays the piano, and he plays the guitar!

Pictures of Ryan Tedder:

B.O.B killed it as well! LOVED his performance of "Nothing on You", "Don't Let Me Fall", and "Airplanes". My favorite was "Don't Let Me Fall" though. He killed the guitar for that song! It was awesome! :)

Pictures of B.O.B (Sorry, they are blurred):

Travie McCoy and Sean Kingston (Rockhurst University) - Nice concert! My bestie Ja and I was in the third row!

Travie McCoy did an awesome job! I sang along to the songs that I knew. LOVED his performance of "Billionaire" and "Cupid's Chokehold"! He kept the crowd going.

Pictures of Travie McCoy:

Sean Kingston had a decent performance. I liked his performance of "Beautiful Girls" and "Take You There".

A D-Xirable RockU Graduate!

So, I'm done. I'm a RockU Graduate of Fall 2011!

Today,
Was the first time that I stepped on RU campus this entire week, and it was the last time that I stepped on it as a RockU undergraduate student. I turned in my Race, Religion, and Ethnicity take home final. Dr. Prentiss gave us our Malcolm X papers back, I got a 98% A on it. Yay!

I talked with the lovely Lauren D. We discussed life in NY. She used to live there and I'm thinking about moving there, so she was giving me some great advice and information about going to NY and living there. I enjoyed talking to her today! She's so sweet, wise, and her advice was very helpful! Thank you for talking with me! :)

Then I had lunch with my beautiful wifey Shelbi J. Well, she ate while I studied for my Shakespeare final. At least, I tried to study for it. LOL! But it was really nice hanging out with my lovely wifey before my last final.

My beautiful wifey, Shelbi J. and I!

Lastly, I had my final for Shakespeare. It took me an hr. to do it. We also got back our last paper in that class. I got an "A" on it. That was my last undergraduate final EVER and it feels good! It only took me 3 and a half years to get here, and it still hasn't hit me yet, but I am now a RU Graduate! Now, I'm just waiting to see my final grades. LOL!

Oh, I've decided that I will continue to use this blog. But now it will be about my life as a RockU Graduate! :) It won't be on RU's official website for long, so I would suggest following this blog or copying and/or saving the URL if you want to continue reading it. Don't worry my wonderful RockU friends, I will still be around visiting RU next semester. As I said before, I still have loose ends to tie up. Plus, I still have to walk the stage in May 2012! :)

Love always,
LaTasha B. bka "A RockU Graduate"

Almost A D-Xirable RockU Graduate!

So, I'm almost done. I'm almost a RockU Graduate of Fall 2011!

Sunday,
I enjoyed the Christmas Party with my D-Xirable sorority sisters! It was a lot of fun! We made pretty picture frames. The best part of it all for me is that my PIC Grace C. enjoyed her secret sister gift. That made me happy. The lovely Carma R. was my secret sister. It took me three times to figure out it was her. She got me one of the best gifts EVER! She got me a fashion sketchpad and I LOVE it! I can't wait to sketch fashion designs in it! Thank you my wonderful Carma!

My D-Xirable sorors, Sarah D., Carma R., and Alexis P. working on their picture frames!

Silly Grace C. and my DXP mom, Lauren H., working on their picture frames!

My DXP mom, Lauren, and her lovely picture frame with a photo of her in it!

My lovely sorors, Monica W. and Alexis P.!

The AMAZING fashion sketchpad that my lovely secret sister, Carma R., gave me!
LOVE it!

The homemade picture frame that I made!

Monday,
I did nothing at all. I just relaxed at home. And yes, I know, I did it during finals week. But hey! I only have 3 finals and only 1 of them is an actual exam. Don't judge me! LOL! It's the first year that I EVER got to do a little relaxing during finals week.

Tuesday,
I chilled at home and worked on my final paper for American Lit. I hope that I did good on it, I could really use an "A" on it!

Wednesday,
Still chilled at home and emailed my teacher my American Lit. final paper. Here's to hoping that it's good! Worked on my Race, Religion, and Ethnicity take home final. It was harder than I thought it would be. I hope that it's good because I REALLY need an "A" in that class. If I get an "A" in that class, I can finally join TAK! (Theta Alpha Kappa: Theology Honor's Society). Yes, I want my honors. LOL!

D-Xirably Close to the End! Part 2

So, this is the end of my last week of "actual classes" at RockU.

Thursday,
Nerve-racking. My last day of class for Race, Religion, and Ethnicity and Shakespeare. I had papers due in both classes and needless to say they weren't easy to do with my senioritis but they got done. My group also did the student-led discussion for Race, Religion, and Ethnicity class. It went just as I expected it go. I had to do my presentation in Shakespeare class. I did Phebe's monologue in As You Like It.

The best part of that day, came after both of those classes. I met up with my babe Meghan P. and we went to Winstead's to get drinks. I got a Cherry-Limeade. Then we went to Loose Park, we talked, and had a great time! It was so relaxing! Most of my worries are over with.

Meghan P. posing with the tree at Loose Park!

Me chilling on the tree at Loose Park!

Me playing in the leaves at Loose Park!

Friday,
I went to my last class EVER! It was American Lit. Dr. Arthur gave us donuts to eat, yum! Students with perfect attendance, like myself, got CD's with Christmas songs on them as a reward for coming to class. That was nice. Then my soror mom Lauren, Liz S., and I all discussed our plans for break. It was the best class to end it all!

Then I had lunch with my beautiful wifey, Shelbi J.! We talked and had a great time. Told her that one of the best things about going to RockU is that I got to meet her! She's so sweet and wonderful!

My beautiful wifey, Shelbi J., and I at RockU!

My beautiful wifey, Shelbi J., and I again at RockU!

To do list before completing my undergraduate studies:
Sorority Christmas Party
American Lit. Final: A paper
Race, Religion, and Ethnicity Final: A take home final - 3 essays, max. 2 pgs. each
Shakespeare Final: My only actual in class final, exam

So, I have 3 finals left and one day left of undergraduate studies. But don't worry, I will still be around RockU next semester. I still have some commitments left to complete.

Sincerely,
LaTasha B. aka "The girl that always wear high heels"

D-Xirably Close to the End! Part 1

So, this week was my last week of "actual classes" for my undergraduate studies at RockU. But first I will finish my weekend.

Saturday,
It was my girl Ashley H.'s birthday! I hope she had a great one! We (Keshia, Erika, Brittanye, and I) went out for her birthday. I had such a great time!

The "birthday girl", Ashley H., and I!

Keshia W. and I!

Ericka C. and I!

Sunday,
I had my last chapter EVER with my sorority sisters. Needless to say it was very memorable! I love all of my sorority sisters!

Monday,
I had American Lit. class. We had a quiz. We all got A's on it since it was a quiz over our thesis for our final papers.

Tuesday and Wednesday,
Stressful. I had to go to classes and to work on two papers that are due Thursday. I also turned in my Senior Thesis. It's a collection of autobiographical poetry.

Rest of my last week to come!

Sincerely,
LaTasha B. aka "The girl that always wear high heels"

D-Xirably Counting Down the Days Before Break!

So, let me tell you about the days before my break.

Sunday,
It was mia sorella's (my sister's) Jenny birthday! Hope she had a great one!  I love you! :)

It was also the last night of the musical. I went to see it. The cast did great! Apparently they noticed me being absent... Wasn't expecting that. I got a gift from Susan! It was a star cookie cutter set and a blue star that said, "You are a shining star!" Aww...  My beautiful, sweet, and amazing wifey Shelbi J. got an Irene Ryan nom. and Danny G. got the other. Congrats to them both! :)

My super sweet gift from the lovely Susan! :)

After the musical, I went with my soror Sarah N. and her dad to see Puss in Boots with the sexy Antonio Banderas and beautiful Salma Hayek doing the voice overs. It was such a cute and funny movie! I enjoyed it. Then we went to BK. Sarah N.'s dad treated us which was really nice and totally unexpected. I appreciated that. :)

Isn't little Puss in Boots adorable?

Then, I went to my last DXP chapter EVER! It was kind of sad but not too sad. My soror mom, Lauren's reading for that chapter was EPIC! But I won't have another "official" chapter with my sorors...

Monday,
My DXP mom Lauren and I walked to American Lit. class together. It was so nice! She waited for me so that we could walk together. I appreciate how close we have gotten this semester. It's been incredible! I couldn't have asked for a better soror mom! She got into law school too! Congrats mom! :) We had a quiz in American Lit. but that's nothing new. Surprisingly I got an "A" on my last quiz. That's great to know. I got an "A-" on my discussant assignment. That's cool.

Tuesday,
The highlight of that day was eating lunch with my DXP mom Lauren and Susan at Susan's house. We had some red tea, mexican soup, and promegranate. All of it was really good! It was really nice! We toured Susan's comfortable home and we sat by the fire and talked for a while. It was so peaceful and relaxing...

DXP mom, Lauren, and Susan's cat, Beans, in front of the fireplace!

The worst part is that Lauren and I both had to go back to school and suffer through one more class that day before break. But I got an "A" on my paper from that last class! :)

Went home and then went over to the Godfamily's house. Big sis Ja and I caught up on our shows and talked about what's been going on in our lives lately. A perfect way to start my break! :)

D-Xirable Differences Part 1!

So, this week was like every other week for me. Do I even need to say that it was a busy one?

"Differences are D-Xirable!"

Before I discuss my week, I will give you the stereotype of RockU students that was said during the program, That's So Gay:

ALL RU students are considered to be rich, white, stuck up, Catholic, and are from the STL.

Monday,
I went to class and we had a quiz... Then I went home. I didn't go to musical rehearsals, I was way too tired to go. I emailed Susan and told her that I couldn't make it.

Tuesday,
In Race, Religion, and Ethnicity class we discussed the religion, Judaism, and the Jews. It was an extremely interesting class but I wanted to learn more about the laws that some of them follow in the Torah.

After classes, I had musical rehearsals from 3:30-6 pm. After musical rehearsals, I went to my sorors THV. They fed me. We had some pepperoni pizza, orange chicken, and brownies. I REALLY appreciate my sorors for feeding me! :) Got to love my sorors! Grace and I then watched Tosh.O while we waited for That's So Gay.

My soror, Monica W., trying to hide from the camera, my soror and PIC, Grace, and my DXP mom, Lauren!

The orange chicken and the pizza that we ate!

My DXP mom, Lauren's, amazing brownies that were SO delicious!

My DXP mom, Lauren, and my soror, Grace!

At 8:45pm Grace and I left for our sorority's program, That's So Gay. It was really good and very informative. I ended up sitting with Sarah D. The speaker was an UMKC counselor, Jim. He told us that he was gay. One of my favorite quotes that he mentioned was "Wasted human potential is a bad thing". Basically it means that no one should waste whatever gifts, talents, and knowledge that they have. He also told us not to feed into racial jokes. I wonder what he would think about the show, Tosh.O, that Grace and I watched earlier today? Hmm... He brought up a Native American derogatory, "Indian Giver". For those that don't know why it's such a bad thing, it's because it's a reference to Native Americans going back on their promises and taking what they gave back (ie. land), which wasn't true at all.

Also, I was left with the thought that you:
"Don't insult others if you don't want to be insulted as well" and "Don't believe in stereotypes".

My soror, Sarah D., and I at That's So Gay!

That's So Gay powerpoint - All love for the rainbow!

As mentioned earlier:
NOT ALL of the students at RU are rich, white, stuck up, Catholic, and are from the STL.
That stereotype is NOT true

Why? Because it suggests that ALL of the students at RockU are that way and that's not true.
Take me for example, I totally break that stereotype:
I'm totally not rich.
I'm mixed, not white.
I wouldn't consider myself stuck up but I could be wrong.
I'm not Catholic, I was raised Baptist.
And I'm not from the STL, I'm from KC.
But there are many other students at RU that don't fit into the stereotype as well. So, don't believe in stereotypes, they are not true.

That's the first part of my week.

Sincerely,
LaTasha B. aka "The girl that always wear high heels"

D-Xirably Cultured!

So, it's been another active week but what's new?

On Monday, Oct. 31, 2011 - Halloween Day, I went out to Applebee's with my beautiful big sis Brittanye R. and her friends Ashley H., Keshia W., and April P. to watch the Chiefs game. I was SO nervous about going out to eat with them because the only person that I knew out of the group was my big sis Brittanye R. but all of the girls were really nice and cool. I've known Brittanye since high school, we both went to Raytown South High School. I really appreciate how long we've known each other! Anyways, I had a really good time with her and I made some new friends. By the way, the Chiefs totally won that game! They was playing against the San Diego Chargers.

Me, my big sis Brittanye R., and Ashley H. at Applebee's cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs!

On Wednesday, I had lunch with my beautiful friend Modesty in the fishbowl. It was nice. We had a nice convo and I got to know her a LOT better! She's awesome!

I left musical rehearsals early on Wednesday to go to the Dia de Los Muertos event in the library. It was really nice! I LOVE the alter that they had decorated, it was really pretty. It was fun decorating candy skulls. I decorated 2 of them. Also, I got to hang out with my girl D'Erica for a little while which was awesome because we hadn't hung out this semester.

The candy skull that I decorated and the candy skull that D'Erica decorated!

On Thursday, I got permission to miss class to help my DXP sisters out with our table for World Cultures Day. I brought in a Native American doll and a Native American story, actually a Cherokee Legend, "The Tale of Two Wolves". It's one of my favorite Native American stories ever! It teaches a good lesson - to always feed the good wolf! :) Oh, I'm part Native American by the way! I'm part Cherokee Indian and another Native American tribe on my dad's side. World Cultures Day was really nice, I enjoyed it. I always enjoy it. For those that don't know, World Cultures Day is an event celebrating different cultures. People come in to read posters about different countries, eat a variety of different foods, watch cultural dances, (this year it was Kansas City's Filipino Association's Sinag-Tala Dance Troupe) and look at cool cultural items. It's really nice!

On Friday, I watched some of the RU Men's soccer game with my soror Sarah N. Then we try to watch the step show at UMKC but it was WAY too crowded! We couldn't see anything so we went to see The Rum Diaries with the handsome Johnny Depp instead. It was really good, I enjoyed the movie. It made me laugh.

Today, I had musical rehearsals and then I went to my sorority's movie event. We watched Despicable Me. Despicable Me is such a cute movie.

Well, that was my week!

A D-Xirable Date Party and Some D-Xirable Highlights!

So, it was another busy week at RU. Here are some of the highlights:

Having lunch on Wednesday with the beautiful and sweet Paulina C. We talked about how our semester's are going and our classes. It was really nice!

Paulina C. and I at Rockhurst!

Hanging out with the lovely Meghan P. after musical rehearsals Wednesday night. We went to CPK (California's Pizza Kitchen) to eat. It was tons of fun. We talked, ate, and enjoyed each other's company. We also went to see some of the Men's soccer game against William Jewell. It was fun and RU won that game!

Me and Meghan P. at CPK!

Going to the Community Center yesterday morning to help with Safe Trick or Treat. I stuffed small bags with candy. In 2 hrs. and 30 mins I stuffed 200 bags with candy, 2 boxes full. Each of the boxes had 100 bags in it. It was a lot of fun but a lot of work!

80 bags of candy that I stuffed

(2 boxes of candy that I stuffed)

Going to DXP's Date Party with Ja after musical rehearsals on Friday night. DXP had a scavenger hunt on the Plaza and we ended the night with some CPK. Yes, I went to CPK twice this week. It was not planned either, LOL! Despite being separated from Ja during the scavenger hunt, I had a lot of fun doing it with my team. I was on Team 1 with Alexis P., Shelbi J., Sarah D. and her date, and Grace C. Team 2 included Ja, Monica, Carma, Sarah N. and her date, and Grace's boyfriend Dylan. Although we tied on finding the scavenger hunt items, Team 2 won because of their creativity.

Ja and I at the Plaza!

Some of my team - Sarah D. and her date, Shelbi J., and Grace C.!

Me and Shelbi J. at CPK!

Me and Sarah D. at CPK!

Me and Alexis P. at CPK!

My sorority mom, Lauren, and I at CPK!

We went to see Paranormal Activity 3 at Cinemark Plaza after DXP's Date Party. The movie was both funny and a little scary. Ja and I laughed several times during the movie.

Becoming a new member of Sigma Tau Delta (English Honor Society)!

Well those are the highlights of my week and weekend so far, tonight I will be going to WOF (World's of Fun) for HalloWeekends.

    D-Xirably,
